Transforming Mining Operations: Innovations in Underground Vertical Engineering

The recently published "List of Typical Application Scenarios for Robots in the Mining Sector" by the National Mine Safety Supervision Bureau and the Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology highlights groundbreaking projects like Hunan Chyuang's collaboration with Shanxi Zijin and Anhui Kaifa Mining on the Underground Vertical Engineering Intelligent Drilling Project. This project was chosen for its outstanding technological advantages, evident safety enhancements, and international leadership in comprehensive technical and economic indicators.

This evaluation, a joint effort by the National Mine Safety Supervision Bureau and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, aims to implement President Xi Jinping's directives on production safety and advancing new industrialization. It actively supports key tasks outlined in the "14th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Robot Industry" and the "Action Plan for Robot+ Applications," advancing the robot industry's effectiveness in serving mine safety and driving high-quality development.

Hunan Chyuang's "Underground Vertical Engineering Intelligent Drilling" project achieved breakthroughs through research on intelligent drilling systems, whole-rock fracturing drilling tool systems, cross-coupling synchronous control systems, hydraulic pillar stabilization positioning systems, and proportional unloading rods. These innovations have driven process innovation in construction, addressing the blank in large-scale, deep, and upward blind mining and intelligent underground vertical engineering construction equipment domestically. They fundamentally solved the challenges of mining efficiency and quality dependence on manual experience and labor shortages, achieving intelligent autonomous construction operations across all stages and scenarios of underground vertical engineering.

This project has successfully assisted numerous domestic and international mining enterprises in achieving essential safety and cost-effectiveness in underground vertical engineering construction. For example, in Shanxi Zijin, a 5G+ Underground Smart Mining Demonstration Project was established, enabling remote takeover and visual monitoring of Underground mining equipment from an aboveground control center. Operations such as autonomous drilling and widening of a 208-meter shaft were completed, reducing personnel by over 50%. Similarly, in Anhui Kaifa Mining, comprehensive automation and partial intelligence have been achieved in shaft construction, gradually transitioning towards full intelligence. In Xinjiang, clients have seen a sixfold increase in comprehensive efficiency compared to similar products, with an 80% reduction in labor and zero safety incidents since equipment deployment.
